Impact

We continue to grow the size of our projects, the amount of our community investments and the lives we impact.

When a corporate citizen discharges its social responsibility to contribute to the socio-economic development of its host country and community, what tends to go unnoticed is the deep impact its projects often have on the lives of everyday people.

When a corporate citizen discharges its social responsibility to contribute to the socio-economic development of its host country and community, what tends to go unnoticed is the deep impact its projects often have on the lives of everyday people.

From a decade-long history of rural community development that was focused on potable water supply, environmental conservation, vocational skills acquisition and agricultural development, since 2013 the British American Tobacco Nigeria Foundation (BATN Foundation) has been focused solely on developing sustainable agricultural enterprises for rural smallholder farmers.

Despite our evolution to a pure focus on agriculture our objective remains the same: to improve the lives of people living in rural areas; this time with special emphasis on smallholder farmers, their families and communities.

Our new focus came about because of the enormous potential that agricultural enterprise has to simultaneously lift rural farmers' standards of living while increasing productivity, sustaining food security, generating employment, contributing to national economic growth and reducing the nation's dependence on oil revenues.

From seed to market, we ensure that our cultural initiatives positively impact smallholder farmers and the communities in which they live in.

The data below captures the impact we’ve made since we were established in 2002, this is a reflection of our commitment to drive and revive Nigeria's agricultural industry, particularly in rural communities.
